I love this concept that I first learned about from Dr. Wayne Dyer. In any given moment, while our minds run rampant we can stop, breathe, and come back to the current experience.

This is a fun game to play. Wherever you may be – resting in bed, waiting in line, breaking bread or taking a walk – step back and bring yourself back from fantasies of the past and/or future. Go from “nowhere” to “now here” and experience the relief of simply being right here, right now.

There really is no other task that is more important than just taking care of this current moment. Most of the ideas/schedules/stressors that we are planning for in the future, never actually happen the way we think. So many variables impact whatever future we are “preparing” for.

Likewise, memories that our minds replay endlessly of past experiences, are over. Revisiting them only takes us away from here, to no-where.

Taking care of the present moment to me, means simply showing up here, now. If I am praying, or socializing or working I have to remind myself again and again, to come back to this breath, this moment, this task. And each time I do, I feel the relief of being home, acceptant of the current reality and grateful to be here, now.
